Gale "Darlene" O'Brian Wiese, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at her residence following an extended illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne, with Father Craig Steimel as celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery near Keystone. Visitation will also be held at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The casket will remain closed at all times to honor Darlene's wishes.
A memorial fund has been established.
Gale Darlene O'Brian was born Jan. 14, 1941, to Dwain and Elva (Sutherlin) O'Brian. On Oct. 28, 1961, she was united in marriage to Carroll W. Wiese at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
A member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne, Darlene was employed as an assembler at Amana Refrigeration for 23 years.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Carroll W. Wiese of Van Horne; her sons, David Wiese of Woodward and Christopher Wiese of Van Horne; her daughters, Lisa (Kendell) Schoon of Goose Lake and Susan Moore of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brothers, Mike (Robin) O'Brian of Frankfort, Ill., and Clif Wagoner of Cali-fornia; her sister, Donna Rasmussen of California; a special sister-in-law; and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Wiese.
Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone is in charge of arrangements.
