Gail Faye Nemecek, 66, of Central City, died peacefully after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, by Whitney Rissi. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Marion. Inurnment: Jordan's Grove Cemetery, Central City, at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, Don of Central City; daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Whitley of Anamosa; son, Matt Nemecek (special friend Maryanne) of Alburnett; grandson "Grandma's Pumpkin," Wyatt Whitley; siblings, Gary (Nancy) Evans of Conneaut, Ohio, Shirley (Lonnie) Rogers of Marion and Wendy (Kenny) Krall of Lisbon; and brother-in-law, Terry (Emma) Nemecek of Mount Vernon. Gail was also blessed with many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and father and mother-in-law, Roxy and Elmer Nemecek.
Gail was born Dec. 10, 1948, in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Wendell and Marguerite Evans. She married Donald Nemecek on April 6, 1968, in Springfield, Pa. Gail was a secretary at Central City Schools for 29 years. She loved her family and friends, especially her dear grandson, Wyatt. She enjoyed collecting and looking at cookbooks, going out to eat on Friday nights with "My Donald, My Donald," Stars and Baskets and a perfectly toasted marshmallow.
A memorial fund will be established.
