Gahring, Richard A.
Richard A. Gahring, 58, of 1802 Emmy Lane, Hiawatha, died there Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009. Per Dick's wishes, there will be no public service. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Yvette; a son, Michael, and a daughter, Christine, both of Ames, his parents, Neil and Patsy, and a sister, Sandy Mulherin, all of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Shelby, Lindsey and Brittney; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dick was born Aug. 2, 1951, in Belle Plaine, the son of Neil and Patsy Hamilton Gahring. He married Yvette Sharon on Dec. 15, 1973, in California. Dick proudly served during the Vietnam War and retired from the Navy after 24 1/2 years of service. He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed model cars, working on cars and especially spending time with his friends and family.
