Gaede, Ralph H.
Ralph H. Gaede, 77, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at his home in Marion. A visitation celebrating Ralph's life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ruth; son, Joel Gaede of Cedar Rapids; and brother, Donald Gaede of Sandstone, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James Gaede and Robert Gaede.
James Howard Gaede was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Sumner, Iowa, the son of August and Marian (VanAuken) Gaede. He graduated from the Sumner High School in 1953 and earned his Bachelor's Degree in 1958 and Master's Degree on 1964 in Art Education from the University of Northern Iowa. On Sept. 21, 1958, he married Ruth Diemer at Sumner. Ralph taught school for many years, including Language Arts and Art in the Alden Community Schools from 1959 to 1963 and Art in the Vernon Middle School, Marion from 1963 to 1994. He retired in 1994. Ralph will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, friend and teacher. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
