G. James Pitcher, 100, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on June 13, 2023, Visitation: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 23, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Funeral service: 1 p.m. Friday, June 23, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary for G. He was born on July 18, 1922, in Delaware, Iowa, the son of Guilford Harvey and Nellie J. (Diamond) Pitcher. James served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Margaret L. Keliher in Boston, Mass. Following Margaret’s death James married to Jean Farmer and she preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Marjorie “Marge” Blevins in 1992 and she died in 2016.
James worked as a pressman at Russell’s Guides, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing. James as a craftsman worked on many projects over the years.
Survivors include his children, Arlene (Jack) Wolfe, James (Shirley) Pitcher and Robert (Susan) Pitcher; and stepsons, Tom (Linda) Blevins, Mike (Janice) Blevins and Jerry (Joan) Blevins.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wives, Margaret, Jean and Marjorie; sons, David and Richard Pitcher; sister, Donna Dunahugh; and brother, Ronald Pitcher.
Memorials may be directed to Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion or Alzheimer’s Association.
