Furness, Jean A.
Jean A. Furness, 61, of Rowley, died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. According to her wishes to be cremated, there will be no visitation, with a family memorial service to be held at a later date.
Jean was born June 22, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Betty (Humphries) Peddycoart. Jean attended elementary school in Rapid City, S.D., and graduated from high school in La Habra, Calif. She returned to the Cedar Rapids area, where she attended Kirkwood Community College. She worked as a computer operator at Kirkwood until her retirement in 2011 due to a disability. Jean married Jerry D. Furness on Feb. 23, 1977. The couple have made their home in the Rowley area for the past 22 years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jerry Furness, Rowley; a stepson, Jerry (Kerry) Furness Jr., Lebanon, Wis.; grandchildren, Miah and Jack Furness, Lebanon, Wis.; two brothers; Jim (Gail) Peddycoart, LaMirada, Calif., and Dan (Linda) Peddycoart, Cedar Rapids; her aunt, Amy Peddycoart, Richmond, Va.; her mother-in-law, Genny Furness, Cedar Rapids; and two sisters-in-laws, Kay (Don) Rawson, Coggon, and Cindy (Kevin) Solem, Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews; her beloved Yorkie, Jak; and her special friends, John and Betty Cannon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, 810 First St. E., Independence, IA 50644.
