Furler, Ralph V.
Ralph V. Furler, 91, of Ely, died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the Solon Nursing Care Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with the Rev. Julie Schuett presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. A private family inurnment will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Solon.
Ralph was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Iowa County, the son of Emil and Lena (Pfaff) Furler. He married Mary E. See on Jan. 5, 1948, in Ely. They later divorced. Ralph farmed until 1965 and then worked as a carpenter until his retirement.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening and playing cards.
Ralph is survived by his sons, Jan (Sharon) Furler of Ely, Mark (Peg Reagan) Furler of Gold Beach, Ore., and Kevin Furler of Cedar Rapids; four grandsons, Jason (Brandy) Furler, Nate Furler (Jason Rausch), Garth (Lisa) Furler and Brian Reagan; a great-grandson, Landry Furler; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Furler of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Martin Furler and Carl Furler; and an infant daughter, Jill.
