Funke, Verna L.
Verna L. Funke, 87, of Toledo, passed away at her home on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, surrounded by her family. A memorial celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 11, 2010 at the Eagles Club, 112 E. Third St., Tama. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Verna Leona Funke was born on August 16, 1923, to Oren and Erna Wiese Scott in Clutier, Iowa. Verna was united in marriage to Morris Danner in 1942. She later married LuVerne Funke in December 1959. Verna was a 66 year member of the Tama American Legion Auxiliary. She was a charter member of the Tama-Toledo Fraternal Order of Eagles and served as the International Grand Madam President in 1976-77.
Verna is survived by her children, Craig (Ann) Danner of Marshalltown; daughter, Lee Anne (Ross) Rosenquist of Greeley, Colo.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters; several nieces and nephews; and loyal companion, Tye (the cat).
Verna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LuVerne (1983); and a sister in infancy.
