Funk, Margaret 'Peg'
Margaret “Peg” Funk, 57, of Iowa City, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Mercy Iowa City following a brief illness. Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 10, at St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will greet friends Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, the Margaret Funk Memorial Fund for multiple sclerosis has been established.
Peg was born May 22, 1952, in Iowa City, the daughter of Thomas and Gwen Davis Welsh. Peg was a 1970 graduate of Regina High School and had been employed in telecommunications at the University of Iowa for many years. She had been a volunteer for Iowa City Hospice.
Peg is survived by two sons, Josh Funk and his fiancee, Rachel Weiss, of Minneapolis and Matt Funk and his girlfriend, Samantha McElyea, of Iowa City; three siblings, Kathie (Bob) Dean of Plano, Texas, Beth (Bill) Sass of Alburnett and Joe (Pat) Welsh of Fort Myers, Fla.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Peg was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sarah.
