Fulwider, Laverne Lorne
Laverne Lorne Fulwider died Sunday morning, July 15, 2012, in his home surrounded by his family. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, at the United Methodist Church in Anamosa. Visitation will be 5 to7 p.m. Tuesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. The Rev. Laurie Riley will officiate at the service. Internment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa.

Surviving is his wife, Margaret; two children, Linda Goodwin of Anamosa and Paul David Fulwider of Dennison; a sister, Mary (George) Postel of Anamosa; four grandchildren, Michelle Cooper, Chris Goodwin, Tina Roman and Sarah Campbell; six great-grandchildren, Haley and Emily Sloan, Brooklyn Cooper, Hanna and Grace Roman and Breanna Campbell; and three sisters-in-law, Phyllis of Preston, Minn., Doris of Anamosa and Rilla of Bonnie, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Steven Laverne; three brothers, Forest L. Fulwider Jr., Robert L. and Richard L.; and a half brother, Dean A. Campbell.
Laverne Lorne Fulwider was born July 15, 1923, in Mount Vernon, Iowa. He was the son of Forest and Marjory Smith Fulwider Sr. Laverne attended Anamosa High School, after high school Laverne proudly and honorably served his country during World War II in the Army Air Force, from 1942 to 1946. He was stationed in North Africa and flew 62 missions with a B25 bomber squadron over Italy, Turkey, Greece and Corsica.
On Sept. 23, 1946, Laverne and Margaret Mae Tucker were united in marriage in Greenfield, S.C. Laverne owned and operated his construction company for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Anamosa and a member of the Mason's for more than 50 years.
Laverne was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly.
