Fuessley, Kenneth H.
Kenneth H. Fuessley, 76, of Alburnett, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at home. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion by Doug Morris. The family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at funeral home. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, Lafayette.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi; children, Brad (Mary) Fuessley of Walker and Paula (Bill) Porter of Alburnett; grandchildren, Blake (Jena) Fuessley, Brett Fuessley, Barry Fuessley, Lyndee Rose Fuessley, Miles Porter and Amber Porter; sister, Josephine “JoAnn” (George) Johnston; brother, Chester (Virginia) Fuessley; a close and loyal friend, Brad Price; and many nieces and nephews. Kenneth is also survived by stepgrandchildren, Robert (Peggy) Mitchell, Suzanne (David) Keeling and Christine (Tom) Curley; and six stepgrandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Dee Fuessley.
Kenneth was born Feb. 25, 1933, in Iowa City, to Paul Kenneth and Vera Lucille (Powell) Fuessley. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Kenneth married Florence “Lynne” Pierce Fuessley and was later divorced. Kenneth worked for the Linn County Road Department, retiring after 27 years. He also farmed for many years in the Alburnett area. Kenneth married Naomi (Frazier) Mitchell on Dec. 16, 1995, in Alburnett.
Kenny had a variety of hobbies including woodworking and enjoyed landscaping and gardening in his yard. He loved attending his grandchildren's activities, and helping people when he could. Kenny was a people person. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Kenneth's memory.
