Froning, The Rev. Carol Estelle
The Rev. Carol Estelle Froning, 89, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at her home following a lingering illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at First Congregational UCC, with the Rev. Al Wagner presiding. Inurnment will be in Clinton.
Survivors include three daughters, Sherri (David) Wendt of Winona, Minn., Sue (Bill) Jakubsen of Savannah, Ga., and Dr. Sara Jill Froning of Chapel Hill, N.C.; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
After the death of her husband, Al, Carol went to Aquinas University Seminary in Dubuque, where she received a master's degree in Divinity. She was a nationally certified hospice chaplain, and was ordained as a minister in the Congregational United Church of Christ. She moved to Pine Hurst, N.C., where she was a chaplain for Manor Care Nursing Home and the regional Pine Hurst Hospital. She returned to Belle Plaine and was briefly the interim pastor at the UCC Church and other churches in the area.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Glen and Dean Conklin.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Belle Plaine Ambulance Service.
