Fritcher, Georgia Ann Topinka

Georgia Ann Topinka Fritcher, 91, of Oxford Junction, slipped into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, with her loving family beside her. A celebration of Georgia's life will he held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 30, at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction, with her niece, Karmen Jamison, officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour before service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Massillon Cemetery in Massillon.

Georgia was born June 5, 1921, in St. Louis, Mo., to Josef and Aloisie (Polak) Topinka. She attended the Oxford Mills School and worked at a variety of jobs in DeWitt and Maquoketa, including Clinton Engines. She married Perry D. Fritcher in February 1962 in Clarence, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1966.

She led a very lively, colorful and interesting life, including piloting planes. Being brought up on the Wapsipinicon, she loved to fish and boat. In her younger years she enjoyed hunting, league bowling, dancing and roller-skating. She also had a vegetable garden and lots of flowers. She was a very good cook.

Georgia loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was kind to all, taking the elderly to appointments or shopping and caring for her father for many years. She was a good friend and neighbor.

She also loved all kinds of animals, and was known for feeding the birds and cats of the neighborhood and usually had a dog until recent years.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracie Williams of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Sierra Williams of Cedar Rapids and Jackson Williams of Iowa City; brother, Joseph (Ellen) Topinka of Tama; sister, Emeline (Babe) Barber of DeWitt; and four nieces, two nephews, and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Perry; brother, Stanley; sister, Elsie Kleinsmith Nordurft; and three brothers-in-law.

Memorials are preferred.
