Frese, Robert Louis
Robert Louis Frese, 74, of Norway, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at the Keystone Care Center, Keystone, following a courageous battle with progressive supranuclear palsy. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Michael's Catholic Church, Norway, with Father Jack McClure officiating. Burial: St. Patrick and St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Watkins. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at St. Michael's Parish Center with Scripture service at 7 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Coletta; children, Dale Frese of Watkins, and Carmen (Wayne) Gibney of Atkins; grandchildren, Adam Frese, Alisa Frese, Eric (Stephanie) Frese, Jared Gibney and Tyler Gibney; brothers, Glen Frese, Ralph (Barb) Frese and David (Jo) Frese; and sisters, Alice Roberts, Mary (Dennis) Ream, Carol Mershon and Nancy (Richard) Herrold.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Alan.
Robert was born May 10, 1935, near Watkins, Iowa, to Louis and Orpha Simoens Frese. He attended Norway schools. On Oct. 7, 1954, he married Coletta Becker at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Watkins.
Robert farmed most of his life. He worked at Wilson's, CedRel Supper Club and Amana Refrigeration. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending numerous sporting events and activities of his grandchildren and trips to Branson. Playing cards was his favorite pastime.
Robert's family would like to express their gratitude to Mercy Hospice of Cedar Rapids, and the Keystone Care Center and their staffs.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mercy Hospice or the Keystone Care Center.
