French, Orvelda Mae

Orvelda Mae French, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly at her home Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home by Pastor Jeff Nullmeyer of Calvary Chapel in Iowa City. Friends may visit Monday at the funeral home after 10 a.m.

Orvie is survived by two sons, David (Martha Rhodes) of Cedar Rapids and Dan of Lake City, Minn.; a daughter, Beth (David) Bain of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Ryan (Heather Hartley) and Austin Bain and Lane and Abby French; and two cats, Callie and Jacob.

Orvie was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; and infant son, Steven.

Orvelda was born Sept. 23, 1933, in Littleport, the daughter of William and Doris (Nading) Dahling. She married Ralph French on Nov. 26, 1952, in Postville.

Orvie was a volunteer at Taylor School for many years. She enjoyed cooking, planting and caring for her flowers.
