Freie, Verne
Verne Freie, 83, of Newhall, lost his battle with cancer and went to his Heavenly Home on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Newhall. Pastor Steven Rempfer will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. The burial will take place following the service at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery.
Verne is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elaine; six children, Larry Freie (Linda) of Lincoln, Neb., Leland Freie (Valerie) of Cedar Rapids, Janet Atkinson of Cedar Rapids, Julie Nieland of Iowa City, Linda Freitag (Jim) of Puyallup, Wash., and James Freie (Sheila) of Wilton; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his two sisters, Norma Casperson of Latimer and Evonne Plagge of Latimer; and his brother, Glenn Freie (Jeanette) of rural Latimer.
