Freese, John A.
John A. Freese, 58, died Monday, June 17, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo, following a courageous battle with cancer. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilbertville with Father Lloyd Reuter as celebrant. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, where a rosary will be held at 3:45.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may to given to the John Freese Memorial Fund.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa of Raymond; his sons, Jonathan (Samantha) Freese of Phenix City, Ala., Justin Freese of Raymond and Jacob (Amanda) Freese of Waterloo; his granddaughter, Emma Freese; a grandson, Clayton; his father, Bernard Freese of Vinton; and his siblings, Brenda Hackbarth of Vinton, Dan (Brenda McGurk) Freese of Walford, Laura (Eric) Morine of Lamont and Bernard (Sue) Freese Jr. of Naperville, Ill.; his brother-in-law, Bob Hanisch of Northfield, Minn.; his sister-in-law, Deanna Freese-Miller of Norway; and many nieces, nephews and the Gerholdt family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanetia Freese; his sisters, Carol Hanisch and Nancy Freese; and his brother, Tom Freese.
