Freeman, Edna L.
Edna L. Freeman, 95, of Olin, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Solon Nursing Care Center, Solon. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin, where friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Olin Cemetery.
Edna Lorrine Sejkora was born Jan. 26, 1917, in Walker, Iowa, the daughter of Stanley and Clara (Zabokrtsky) Sejkora. She graduated from Walker High School. On June 27, 1943, she was united in marriage to Howard Freeman in Marion. He died July 16, 2004. Edna and her husband farmed north of Clarence for over 60 years.
She was a member of Olin Community United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, Unity Club and Card Club. She was petite in size but a hardworking farm partner. She always put others before herself. She enjoyed cooking, dancing and Big Band music, gardening, and her flowers, especially gladiolas.
Her favorite color was red, she chose it in flowers, cars and tractors.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Hartwig of Long Grove and Gail Freeman of Clarence; one son, Farrel Freeman of Redwood City, Calif.; two grandchildren, Heath (Micki) Hartwig and Kent (Megan) Hartwig; and two great-granddaughters, Shelby and Bailey Hartwig.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister and one brother.
Memorials may be given to the Olin Community United Methodist Church or Olin Ambulance Service.
