Freeman, Dalores Cora (Bahls)
GUTTENBERG - Dalores Cora (Bahls) Freeman, 84, of Guttenberg, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at the Guttenberg Care Center. Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 207 S. First St., Guttenberg, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Guttenberg, with the Rev. Penny Hansel officiating. Interment will be at Guttenberg City Cemetery.
Dalores will be remembered by her children, Teresa Wakonabo and Glenn (Jolene) Freeman; grandchildren, William Freeman, Chad Freeman, Michelle Freeman, Nicole Kipka, Melanie Gast and Kimberly Weirens; eight great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Dwayne Bahls, Harold Bahls, JoAnn Remington, Ida Jilek, Geraldine Slaybaugh and Donald Bahls.
Dalores was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Wendell; one granddaughter, Calista Freeman; and two sisters, Lavon Downs and Jeanette Schmelzer.
She was born the daughter of William and Irene (Polkow) Bahls on Sept. 4, 1926, in Elkader. After receiving her education, Dalores was united in marriage with Wendell Hugh Freeman on Oct. 22, 1946, in Kansas City, Kan. To this union they were blessed with three children in which Dalores spent much of her time caring for as well as keeping up a home. When she had time, Dalores enjoyed fishing in her younger years, spending time with her family, and she loved to read.
