Freeland, Judith Ann (Black)
Judith Ann (Black) Freeland, 72, of Monticello, died Oct. 20, 2012, at Silvercrest of Anamosa. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Community Center in Hopkinton.
Survivors include her husband, Lowell Freeland; brother, Richard Black of Farley; and sister, Cathy Black of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Dorthy Black; and her brother, Robert Black.
Judith Ann Black was born in Monticello, Iowa on April 3, 1940, the daughter of Paul and Dorthy (Specht) Black. She was married to Lowell Freeland on Aug. 14, 1965, at Peniel Presbyterian Church, rural Monticello.
Judith spent her entire career as an elementary schoolteacher in Iowa and Minnesota. She loved her students as much as they loved her. After retirement, she spent many years volunteering in classrooms.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be given to Camp Courageous of Iowa in Monticello or to a charity of your choice.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Silvercrest of Anamosa and Above & Beyond Hospice Care for their exceptional kindness and compassion for Judith.
