Fredericks, Dick
Dick Fredericks, 80, of Palo, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, with his daughters at his side, Wednesday, July 18, 2012. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, Cedar Rapids, is entrusted with arrangements.
He is survived by his daughters, Dion and Kim and her husband, John; son, Chris; two brothers, Jim and Cecil; grandchildren, Toby, Allison, Tyler, Adam and Tanner; and former wife, Marilyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kurt; a brother, Bill; and sister, Lurline.
Dick was born April 2, 1932, in Lima, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in business. He served in the United States Army. Dick worked for 10 years at Westinghouse in Lima, Ohio and then was employed by Rockwell Collins for more than 30 years. Following his retirement, Dick was one of the founding members of Iowalive, a volunteer organization for improving Iowa. He and his son, Kurt, built Spring Haven Stables near Palo, where he resided until his death.
Dick touched the lives of so many. He will be remembered as a kind and giving man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
