FRED PELISEK

Fred Pelisek, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died at Manor Care on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016. Services: 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan Westby of St. Paul, Minn.; sons, Steve of Cedar Rapids and Mike of Florida; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Fred was born Sept. 12, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Joseph and Fannie Kubalek Pelisek. He married Verna L. Onken on June 10, 1950, in Iowa City. Verna passed away in 2007.
Fred was a machinist at Cherry-Burrell, retiring from there after many years of service.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR, fishing, and was an avid hunter and a very talented mechanic who could fix anything.
Fred proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was very devoted to his family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
