Frauenholz, Frank L.
Frank L. Frauenholz, 97, of Iowa City, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at Greenwood Manor Care Center in Iowa City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Frank's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.

Frank Leo Frauenholz was born Oct. 23, 1911, in Iowa City, the son of Frank and Lydia (Mincer) Frauenholz. He attended rural Johnson County Schools. On June 20, 1933, he was united in marriage to Elsie Marie Solomon in Rock Island, Ill. Frank and Elsie were lifelong farmers, starting on a farm south of Iowa City, then for nearly 30 years on a farm in the West Liberty area. In retirement the couple moved to Iowa City. Frank was a former member the Moose Lodge and the Farm Bureau.
His family includes his two children, Marie Evans and her husband, Joseph “Roy” Evans, of Iowa City and Ken Frauenholz and his wife, Jean, of Swisher; three grandchildren and their spouses, Robert L. Evans (Carol), Craig A. Evans (Kim) and Joni S. Wallace (Marc); five great-grandchildren, Codie, Colton, Chelsea, Gabe and Kyle Evans; and his sister-in-law, Cora Maxine Ferguson of Oklahoma.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsie; granddaughter, Dawn M. Evans; brother, Earl Frauenholz; and sisters, Irene Thomas, Mary Frauenholz, Agnes Frauenholz, Velma Cox and Dorothy McArtor.
