Franzen, Guido 'Pete'

Guido “Pete” Franzen, 91, of Ossian, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at Ossian Senior Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian. The Rev. Monsignor Cletus Hawes will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. lead by the Knights of Columbus, and a Scripture service at 4 p.m. There also will be visitation one hour before mass at the church on Saturday.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanora Franzen, Ossian; 13 children: Sharon Kay (Phillip) Stoddard, Rowley; Dr. Keevin (Mary) Franzen, Dubuque; Clyde (Debra) Franzen, Ossian; Dean (Joann) Franzen, Elkader; Ivan (Karen) Franzen, Ossian; Inez (Larry) Brincks, Decorah; Brian (Judy) Franzen, Decorah, Phyllis (Curt) Krambeer, Cedar Rapids; Joyce (Randy) Tietz, Cedar Rapids; Arlin (Jill) Franzen, Ossian; Lester (Cindy) Franzen, Waverly; Rodney (Lynn) Franzen, Ossian; and Terry Franzen, Ossian; 28 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ossian Senior Hospice and Ossian Ambulance.
