Frank James Upah, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at Northbrook Manor Care Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will be in Rogers Grove Cemetery near Ely. Visitation will be one hour before services Friday at Brosh Chapel.
Frank was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Chelsea, the son of William and Frances (Charvet) Upah. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Frank attended Coe College and received a degree from the University of Iowa. Frank worked at Iowa State Employment Service for many years. He then worked as a personnel director at St. Luke's Hospital until his retirement.
Frank spent a great deal of time writing literature on religion and politics and was very knowledgeable on many scholarly topics.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, watching the Hawkeyes and most of all, the time spent with his family.
Frank is survived by his brother, Edward (Mary Ann) Upah of Tama; his sister, Marilyn (Darrell) Posekany of Cedar Rapids; as well as his nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eunice Elias; and his sister, Elsie Elaine Upah.
