Frank J. Roman, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at HCR-Manor Care, Cedar Rapids.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dennis Juhl officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be at St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, with a vigil at 7 p.m.
Survivors include his children, Bernice Roman of Cedar Rapids, Mary (James) Baldwin of Cedar Rapids and Paul (Barbara) Roman of Deerfield, Ill.; siblings, Agnes Thomas, Anthony Roman, Louis (Mary Lou) Roman, George (Cecilia) Roman and Helen (Roger) Blietz, all of Cedar Rapids; brother- and sisters-in-law, Darold (Doris) West of Onslow, Velma Rasmussen of Maquoketa and Patricia West of Ohio; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters and a brother.
Frank Joseph Roman was born March 18, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Frank and Mary (Prochaska) Roman. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. On Jan. 3, 1948, he married M. Jean West at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. She died in 1999. Frank was a foreman at Penick & Ford from 1949 to 1978. He then worked and retired from Cargill in 1996.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to the Holy Family School System, 3700 First Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405.
