Frank Parker Turner, age 91, of Solon, died Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the homestead where he had lived for 57 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adele, on November 29, 2008.
Frank was born on October 12, 1933 and raised in Elkader, IA. He married Adele Marso in 1951, and for most of his career he ran an autobody shop at his home. When Frank retired from his business, he went to work at the University of Iowa spending most of his time in the Chemistry Department as a machinist. Frank retired from UI in August 2018 at the youthful age of 84.
He had many fond memories of working at UI with the graduate students and faculty fabricating parts and he enjoyed teaching the “kids” as he fondly called the students. There wasn’t anything Frank couldn’t fix.
There will be a private burial per Frank’s wishes, “direct burial, no fuss, and that’s it” in true Frank fashion. He did so much for so many people and never asked for anything in return. Frank was a wonderful man, and he will be missed. Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
