Frank Joseph Miller, 91, of Marion, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, at Village Ridge in Marion.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Dec. 31, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, where Frank was a charter member. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 30, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m., vigil service at 4 p.m. Inurnment will follow Mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Frank was born on Jan. 6, 1925, to Edward and Pauline (Wache) Miller in Chamberlain, S.D. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and saw combat in Korea. On Aug. 27, 1952, he was united in marriage to Renee J. Miller. He was an active member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 55. As a small businessman and licensed electrician, he helped build and maintain many electrical grids across Iowa. Frank was a charter member of St. Pius X Parish. Frank greatly enjoyed dancing, watching the Kernels and the Cubs play baseball, and woodworking. He was a gentle soul and was well loved by all who knew him.
Frank is survived by his six children, Therese (Dale) Lucht, Kurt (Margaret) Miller, Mark Miller, BethAnn (Shashi Gadegaonkar) Miller, Jane Miller and Jill Miller; seven grandchildren, Chris, Adam, Sarah, Andrew, Stephen, Ben and Matt; two great-grandchildren, Norah and Jacob; and his sister, Rosalie Claseman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Renee Miller; his parents; his four brothers; and his three sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Pius X.
The family would like to thank the staff at Village Ridge for the 13-plus years of loving care.
