Francis "Pat" Woods, 81, of Ryan, died at Heritage Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids, on Sunday, July 2, 2017. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ryan, by
the Rev. John Kremer. Friends may visit with the family at the church Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday after 9 a.m. Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids is serving the family.
Pat is survived by his children, Karen (Dan) Stanford, Mike (Angi) Woods, Deb (Steve Emken) Woods, Kevin (Karen) Woods and Bear (Julie) Woods; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Bernice (Tom) Boffeli, Lois (Don) Venzke, Leo (Paula) Woods, Robo (Sharon) Woods and Vince (Jeanne) Woods; sister-in-law, Janet Woods; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Jo; son, Patrick; sisters, Mary Moran, Sarah Otten, Helen Woods and Kathy Strothers; and brother, Jim Woods.
Francis Patrick was born May 2, 1936, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the son of Francis "Frank" and Marie Clennon Woods. He was a graduate of St. Patrick Catholic High School in Ryan. Pat was a U.S. veteran, proudly serving in the Army during the Korean War. Following, he married Mary Jo Burke on May 31, 1958, in Ryan. He owned and operated Woods Construction, retiring in 2002.
Pat was a proud Irishman who loved his family very much. He was an avid fan of the Cubs, Packers and Hawkeyes. Pat also was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ryan.
The family would like to extend special thanks to loyal friend, Mary Martin, and to Care Initiatives Hospice.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Ryan American Legion or to Care Initiatives Hospice.
