Francis Paul Vislisel, 86,
of Solon, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at the Solon Care Center. Funeral Mass will
be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan.
5, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Full military rites will be conducted by the Solon American Legion. Burial
will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Brosh Chapel in Solon is handling Francis' arrangements.
Francis was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Mount Vernon, the son of Frank and Emma (Staskel) Vislisel. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Francis was united in marriage to Bernice Johnson on June 14, 1951, at St. Bridget's Catholic Church. He farmed all of his life just east of Solon, and enjoyed gardening, fishing and, most of all, spending time with his family.
Francis is survived by his wife, Bernice; his children, Susan (Rick) Randall and Sharon (Gary) Fordice, both of Solon, Cynthia Paulsen of Cedar Rapids and Douglas (Tonya) Vislisel of Solon; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his brother, Joe (Judy) Vislisel of Robins; his sister, Martha Kimm of Marengo; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret Slusher.
