Francis Jerome Spinka, 63, of Central City, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at his home. As per Francis' wishes, private family services will be held at a later date. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Francis was born Feb. 22, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Wencil and Rose (Tickal) Spinka. Francis worked at Hawthorne Hills for over 38 years as a maintenance manager, until his retirement in 2011. Francis and his son, Calvin, owned and operated Frame Trader, a custom framing shop in Mount Vernon. His passion was woodworking, being outdoors and most of all the time spent with his family, especially the grandkids.
Francis is survived by his son, Calvin Paul (Nikki) Spinka of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Elijah and Greyson Spinka; and longtime friend and former wife, Jean A. Fuller of Hiawatha.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wencil "Jim" Spinka; and a son, Francis I. Spinka.
