Francis "Joe" Wallace Dillinger, 67, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Feb. 24, at Eastview Christian Church located at 727 Collins Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids. A celebration of Joe's life will begin at noon Friday at the church conducted by the Rev. Bill Holley. Private committal services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, is assisting the family.
Joe is survived by his sons, Joseph "Joe" (Lori) Dillinger of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Timothy Dillinger of Overland Park, Kan.; siblings, George (Judy) Dillinger of Harris, Clifford Dillinger of Jefferson, N.C., and Barbara Speake of Marion; a stepgrandaughter, Elizabeth Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Russell Dillinger, Clair Dillinger, Dale Dillinger and Lawrence "Short" Dillinger; and sister, Ruth Davis.
Joe was born March 14, 1949, in Luton, Iowa, the son of Willis and Edna (Johnston) Dillinger. He graduated from Charter Oak High School in 1967. Joe worked as a computer operator. He was a member of the Eastview Christian Church, Cedar Rapids. Joe was an avid sports fan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
