Francis James “Jim” Galli, 91, of Marion, Iowa passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 17, 2023. He battled with several health issues, but mainly kidney disease. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Jim was born on June 2, 1931, to John and Anora “Ann” (Brislawn) Galli in Hopkinton, Iowa. They later moved to Prairieburg, Iowa. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1953. During that time, he was commissioned to a Troop Transfer ship as a teletype operator and then transferred to the island of Guam as a Seabee. When Jim returned to the states, he had many different jobs from farming, building T.V. and communication towers, factory supervisor to pizza delivery. During his retirement years, he worked at a local subway and at the age of 90, he retired once more.
He enjoyed fishing, doing yard work and bowling. His latest hobby putting puzzles together. He loved his family and cherished the time spent with them.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Arlene Rutan, Trudy Foster and Robert “Bob” Galli.
He is survived by his brother, William “Bill” Galli; children, Mike (Von) Galli, Deb Schropp, Dennis (Jackie) Galli, Dave (Carol) Galli, Tim (Robin) Galli and Linda Talley-Dye; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and Davita Dialysis for the love and care given to Jim.
