Francis "Frank" Webber, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 5, 2017. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of Tranquility, officiated by the Rev. Christopher Podhajsky.
Frank was born Oct. 8, 1931, in Garber, Iowa, to Albert and Adeline (Hansel) Webber. After graduating high school, Frank served honorably in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper from 1951 until 1953. He was united in marriage to Josephine Anne "JoAnne" Ferguson on July 2, 1955, at St. Wenceslaus Parish in Cedar Rapids. To this union, two daughters were born.
Frank was a member of the Cedar Rapids Police Department for 10 years, then worked as a foreman for the city of Cedar Rapids for the duration of his career, until his retirement. He loved camping, fishing and rooting for the Chicago Cubs. His family was extremely important to him. He especially loved playing with his great-granddaughters. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, JoAnne; daughters, Rachell Webber (Richard Ward) of Cedar Rapids and Sharron Wehde of Sioux City; grandchildren, Beth Webber-Kinley (Doug Reed) of Cedar Rapids, Bradley Wehde (Aimee Crouch) of Kansas City, Mo., and Alison Wehde of Iowa City; two great-granddaughters, Addi and Emmi; brother, Lowell Webber of Marion; sister, Shirley (Roger) Waterman of Colesburg; as well as his dogs, Cupcake and Sophie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Carol Webber; and beloved poodle, Ladybug.
