FRANCIS "FRANK" EARL KUENNEN

Francis "Frank" Earl Kuennen, 69, of Solon, passed away Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Veritas Church, located at 700 Forevergreen Rd., Tiffin, IA 52340. Celebration of Life services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Veritas Church. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon is in charge of arrangements.
Francis was born June 5, 1952, in West Union, the son of Leonard and Wilhelmine (Scharlach) Kuennen. He graduated from Turkey Valley High School, Class of 1970. He served in the U.S. Army as an MP between North and South Korea. Following, he attended Upper Iowa University with a B.A. degree in education and was a two-time All-American wrestler. Frank was a member of the Upper Iowa University Hall of Fame.
Frank was united in marriage to Shelley Searles on July 10, 1976, in West Union. He was a teacher for several years in Bellevue, where he also started the high school wrestling program. In 1978, he bought the Solon Feed Mill Inc., where he was able to carry on his love for agriculture, from growing up on the family farm near St. Lucas. Frank loved spending time with his family and his many friends. Frank's grandchildren were the light of his life!
Frank is survived by his wife, Shelley; his children, Kylie (Ryan) Mausser of Amana and Greg (Nicole) Kuennen of Solon; eight grandchildren, Berkley, Baylor, Briggs and Boone Mausser and Kapri, Thea, Kane and Beau Kuennen; his siblings, Ida (Ron) Winker, Michael (Yvonne) Kuennen, Joanie Kuennen and Debby (Jamie) Hoarty; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
