Francis "Frank" Gordon Hinds, 97, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, with visitation one hour prior to service. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Frank was born Sept. 8, 1920, the son of Frank and Florence (Whiteway) Hinds, in Framingham, Mass. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, where he was a flight engineer on the B17 and part of the 303rd Bombardment Group.
On Jan. 22, 1945, he was married to Clarice Elizabeth Coppess. She passed away in 2015. Frank was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Marion and the Masonic Lodge in Marion.
Survivors include his son, Larry (Susan) Hinds; two granddaughters, Sara (Tom) Hanley and Kerrin (Clint) Andrle; and seven great-grandchildren, Grace, Mason, Mary, Sally and Susan Hanley, and Milo and Jane Andrle.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and siblings.
Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church in Marion in memory of Frank.
