Francis (Fran) Dean Diesch, 63, of Earlville, joined his wife, Susie, on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, when he passed away suddenly at his home. Friends may call at the Clifton Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville on Friday, Jan. 27, from 3 to 7 p.m. and also at the Earlville United Parish one hour before services on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Jill Mack will officiate. Committal will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Earlville, also with a resting place in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Guttenberg.
Fran, the son of Harold Francis and Delores (Dot) Anne (Schenke) Diesch, was born on June 21, 1953. He graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in Delhi and worked many years at Ertl's and later at Lund, from where he retired. He was married to Susan Mary Eilers on Oct. 7, 1998, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville. He was a member of the Earlville United Parish and an avid member of the Cubs Fan Club. He enjoyed fishing and golfing with his friends and riding around town on "Old Blue," his golf cart. He found pleasure in winning on scratch off tickets and above all, loved the Cubs.
He is survived by his mother, Dot; and two sisters, Mari Jo Diesch and Julie Diesch, all of Earlville; a stepdaughter, Cindy (Jason) Offerman of Dyersville; two stepgrandchildren, Connor and Sydnie; two aunts, Ilene Holthaus of Colesburg and Betty Rind of Middle Amana; plus many cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death were his father, Harold; his wife, Susie; a stepson, Travis Bolsinger; and step-grandson, Austin Gerner.
