Francine Daker, 79, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Northbrook Manor in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 27, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall with Pastor Steven Rempfer officiating. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery near Newhall. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. John Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
Francine was born July 10, 1936, in Eden Township near Newhall to Clarence and Elfrieda (Fiebelkorn) Hertle.
On Oct. 29, 1967, she married Daryl Daker at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Springfield, Mo.
Francine was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, needlepoint on plastic canvas and caring for people.
After working at St. Luke's Hospital as a nurse for 24 years, she retired in 1994. She then worked part-time at Virginia Gay Annex in Vinton for a few years, continuing to care for family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Daryl of Cedar Rapids; her stepsons, Gary Etzel and Steven (Teresa) Etzel, and stepdaughter, Kimberly (John Maldonado) Etzel, all of Marion; stepgrandchildren, Gabriel, Grace and Noah Etzel and Addison Maldonado, all of Marion; sisters-in-law, Sandra Hertle of Atkins and Judy Hertle of Newhall; sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Jim Mote of Delhi; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Richard and Dennis Hertle; and brother and sister-in-law, Marlin and Margaret Daker.
