Frances Marie Uthoff, 91, of Walford, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, peacefully at her home.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 19, at Lenox Cemetery, Amana, Iowa. Feel free to bring your lawn chairs to the cemetery. Please be mindful of everyone's safety, respect social distancing and wearing masks when appropriate. Service will also be livestreamed through Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be directed to the New Jerusalem Church or the Lenox Cemetery, P.O. Box 283, Walford, IA 52351. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
Frances was born in Norway, Iowa, Sept. 7, 1929, to Frank and Grace (Snyder) Brecht. She graduated from Norway High School in 1947 and then Pitze's Beauty School in Waterloo, Iowa. On April 26, 1951, Frances married David Uthoff at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Norway.
Frances and David moved to Cedar Rapids in 1954, then to Walford in 1959. Frances worked at a barber shop in Swisher, Iowa, Square D and Morris Plan in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and later at Colony Inn, Amana, Baking Pies. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Norway.
Together, Frances and David enjoyed fishing, playing cards and dancing when they were younger; more recently, Frances liked gardening, bird watching, reading and baking pies.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Cyndy (Scott) Staton; grandchildren, Brad Beranek of Georgia and Derek (Karen) McCusker; great-grandchildren, Mason McCusker, Connor Collins and Lexis Collins; grandchildren, Drew McCusker, Brett (Tiffany Lane) Rettenmeier and Ben (Jordan Pilcher) Rettenmeier; daughter; Sandy (Pat Ciliberto) Grace; grandchildren, Zach Murphy and Josh (Jaslyne) Murphy; great-grandchildren, Harlow and Cora Murphy; grandchild, Chelsea (Brett Hoium) Murphy; great-grandchildren, Leo and Theodore Hoium, all of Minnesota; sisters, Mary (Dennis) Burrier and Carrol Stark; sisters-in-law, Dolores Rawson, Marjorie Beatty, Bertha Rhinehart and Eleanor Uthoff; brother-in-law, Duane Bliss; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David (2020); and sisters, Donna Primrose and Jean Johnson.
"When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart."
