FRANCES ILENE PRITCHARD LEGGETT

Frances Ilene Pritchard Leggett, 91, of Monticello, passed away peacefully on Oct. 3, 2017, at Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center.
Private services were Oct. 6 at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello. Pallbearers are grandsons Todd Catlett, Michael Weber, Rodney Weber, Robbie Paulson Jonathan Leggett and Chuck Carley. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters Kim Shephard, Diane Weber, Jennifer Carley, Jennifer Fetzer and Denise Nealson.
Frances Pritchard was born Nov. 28, 1925, to Lawrence and Maude (Starr) Pritchard in Fayette, Iowa. Frances was baptized on June 26, 1927, at the Methodist Church in Fayette. She attended school in Fayette through her junior year. Her family moved to Springville, Iowa, where Frances graduated from Springville High School in 1944. Frances married Stuart Leggett on July 19, 1944, at Anamosa Methodist Church in Anamosa, Iowa. Frances raised three children, Douglas, Dixie and Barb. Frances and Stuart celebrated 68 years of marriage until Dec. 28, 2012, when Stuart passed away.
Frances helped Stuart on the farm and with his trucking business northeast of Scotch Grove, Iowa. Frances enjoyed milking cows and raising hogs and sheep and a flock of chickens. Then in March 2003, Frances and Stuart moved to Monticello to enjoy their retirement.
Frances was a member of the Oak Drive Club for over 58 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed listening to Old Country Western music, polka music and watching the RFD channel. During the warmer months, she enjoyed fishing at local farm ponds, as well as the Monticello Fourth of July Parade and Great Jones County Fair. She self-taught herself to play the organ, and especially enjoyed playing "You Are My Sunshine."
Frances is survived by two daughters, Dixie Weber of Monticello and Barb (Denis) Paulson of Olin; one daughter-in-law, Jackie (Mrs. Douglas) Leggett of West Branch; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Brunscheen of Florence, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart; her parents; her son, Douglas; a sister, Darlene Stender of Monmoth; a brother, Russell Pritchard of Longmont, Colo.; and a brother-in-law, Eddy Brunscheen of Florence.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for UnityPoint Hospice, c/o Robin, RN, and Bobbie Jo, CNA, at Kramer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 791, Monticello, IA 52310.
