Frances Louise Benesh, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated by the Rev. David Renfro. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Frances was born Aug. 27, 1928, in Central City, Iowa, to Irvin and Dorothy (Schaefer) Lovell. She spent her childhood in Cedar County near Tipton and Mechanicsville. Frances was united in marriage to Edward L. Benesh on May 25, 1946, in Kahoka, Mo. To this union one daughter was born.
The Benesh family moved to Cedar Rapids in 1952. Frances was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She worked as accounting clerk for the Cedar Rapids Community School District until her retirement in 1993. Frances and Edward were married for 51 years when he passed away on Aug. 6, 1997.
She is survived by daughter Donna (Laverne) Franks of Marion; two granddaughters, Alicia (David) Polum of Cedar Rapids and Christine Campbell of North Liberty; and four great-grandsons, Nicholas Polum of Cedar Rapids, Samuel Mrstik of Texas, Christopher Polum of Cedar Rapids and Benjamin Campbell of North Liberty. Also surviving are brothers Paul Lovell of Cedar Rapids, Glenn Lovell and Larry (Barb) Lovell, both of Mechanicsville; and sister Betty McCormick of Cedar Rapids.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Edward.
