Fox, Margaret G.
Margaret G. Fox, 98, died June 10, 2010, at Mercy Iowa City. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville.
Margaret was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on March 31, 1912, the daughter of George and E. Gertrude (Jacobs) Fox. She was a faculty member at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, West Virginia University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ansty College, Birmingham, England, and the University of Iowa, where she was awarded a Ph.D. in 1949 and was a full professor and department head. She was also a member of many honorary societies and professional organizations.
Margaret loved to travel, making her way to every continent over the course of 20 years. She also loved to collect antique dolls, and do intricate needle work.
Margaret is survived by her three nieces, Marcia Urseth, Marilyn Steinman (Duncan) and Meredith Smith; seven grandnieces and grandnephews; nine great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; a grandson, Brian Stewart; and special friends, Marilyn and Eldon Hanson and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
