Fowler, Paul E.
Paul E. Fowler, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died March 27, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital following an extended illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Carroll Brown will officiate. Friends may call at the chapel after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Private inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are his children, Dennis of Munds Park, Ariz., and Dick and wife Laura, Bill and wife Julie, and Susan Edmunds and husband Scott, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jef, Ann, Alex, Kate, Maggie, Beth, Ashley, Stephanie and T.J.; great-grandchildren, Alayna, Charlotte, Lydia and Liam; as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; and brothers, Raymond, Earl, Eldon, Jerry and Bob.
Paul Edmond Fowler was born Nov. 16, 1920, in Coggon, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Miranda (Aldrich) Fowler. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jean Hermsen on May 14, 1942, in Cedar Rapids. She preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2003. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He started and owned P.E. Fowler Electric for over 40 years, later selling his business.
He was a member of NECA, Tuesday Evening Optimist Club, American Legion, Ellis Twirlers dancing club, a past member of the Elks Club, and most recently joined the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Paul enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, dancing, and spending time at the family cottages at Lake Delhi and on the Mississippi River.
He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed.
