Foster, Gertrude
Gertrude Foster, 80, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. A. Luncheon will follow the service at St. Matthew's.
Survivors include children, Linda Morgan and Diane Shaffer both of Cedar Rapids, Dan Shaffer of Leavenworth, Wash., Steve Shaffer of Deep River and Christine (Shaffer) Wells of Davenport; brothers, William Galli and Jim Galli both of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Arlene Rutan of Cedar Rapids; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and significant other, Steve Kovell.
Gertrude was born Oct. 29, 1932, in Praireburg, Iowa. She was the daughter of Anora and John Galli. Gertrude worked for 10 years at St. Luke's Hospital and 13 years at Republic Parking System at The Eastern Iowa Airport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family.
Thanks to all the doctors and hospital staff at St. Luke's Hospital.
