Foster, Gerald 'Jerry' D.
Gerald “Jerry” D. Foster, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 16, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital following a lengthy illness. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, by the Rev. William Harnish. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Mooney-Vogel Post 727. Burial will be at a later date at Linwood Cemetery.
Jerry is survived by three sisters, Pat Sebetka, Cedar Rapids, Sharon Marsh and Sara Foster, both of Council Bluffs; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Bernie Kent, Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy; parents, Edgar and Dora Alice (Clymer) Foster; three sisters, Dora Jean Waite, Mary Foster and Lois Foster; and brother, Edgar Foster.
Gerald was born March 5, 1935, in Hallsport, N.Y., and came to Cedar Rapids as a young boy. He married Cynthia Roudabush on Dec. 17, 1997, in Vinton. She died Feb. 20, 1999. Jerry was a carpet installer for many years in California and later in Cedar Rapids until his retirement. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Jerry was a free spirit who enjoyed life and loved his family and friends.
