Forrest W. Rosser Jr., 89, a prominent attorney in Cedar Rapids, died on April 21, 2018.

Mr. Rosser attended Notre Dame University and received a bachelor's degree in English from Michigan State University. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa, College of Law. He first practiced law in the U.S. Navy, and then in Cedar Rapids for over 50 years. He last was associated with the law firm of Terpstra and Epping in Cedar Rapids. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve in the Western Pacific aboard the aircraft carrier Wasp with Fighter Squadron 152 and at Alameda, Calif. He was a member of the Admiral's Staff of Commander Fleet Air Alameda. Mr. Rosser served as president on the Regis High School Board of Education. Mr. Rosser was appointed by the governor of Iowa to serve on the first Non-Public Schools State Advisory Committee, and served as chairman. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, serving as a lector, choir member and member of the Stewardship Committee. In 2005, he was honored as a 50-year member of the Iowa State Bar Association, as well as the Linn County Bar Association.

Forrest "Skip" Rosser will be remembered for his deep Catholic faith and his love of family. He also will be remembered for his passions for golf, hunting, fishing and political activism. He mentored local, state and national political candidates, and served as campaign manager several times, including his wife's campaign for her election to the Cedar Rapids school board.

Mr. Rosser is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Curran; children, Forrest W. (Nancy) Rosser III, Julie (Pete) Mahowald, Michael J. (Julienne) Rosser and Lucy (Michael) Marquardt; and grandchildren, Annabelle Rosser, Madeline Rosser, Curran Mahowald, Austin Mahowald, Emily Rosser, Kevin Rosser, Lauren Marquardt and Brian Marquardt.

Forrest was very grateful for the support from his treasured Cedar Rapids friends for the 60 years he lived here.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday June 4, at All Saints Catholic Church, 720 29th St. SE, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet guests beginning an hour prior to service. Private family interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mr. Rosser's name to All Saints Catholic Church.
