Forney, Marietta I.
Marietta I. Forney, 89, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 19, 2010, at Mercy Living Plus after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein. Carol Hamilton will officiate. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. today and one hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her children, Darlene Follmer of Oelwein, Larry (Sandy) Forney of La Porte City, Deanna Parker of Oelwein, Gary (Bonnie) Forney of La Porte City, Carma (Roger) Strempke of Oelwein, Donald Forney (significant other, Teresa Youngblut) of Oelwein and Jerry (Barb) Forney of Maynard; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence on Dec. 1, 1998; two -sons-in-law, Kenneth Follmer and Doug Parker; a great-grandson, Miles Davis; four brothers, Lloyd, Grover, Eldon and Obbie; six sisters, Leatha, Edith, Irene, Betty Pearl and Louise; and her parents.
Born June 10, 1920, in Urbana, Iowa, the daughter of Harry Leroy and Ida (Calver) Cue, she married Lawrence C. Forney on Jan. 12, 1938, in Independence. She was a homemaker.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
