Forde, Lawrence J.
Lawrence J. Forde, 81, of 3320 Queen Dr. SW, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at ManorCare after a short illness. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Survivors include four sons, John, Gary and Dan, all of Cedar Rapids, and Vern of Texas; a daughter, Mary Roberts of Maiden Rock, Wis.; two sisters, Eunice and Arla; and four granddaughters, Rachel, Nicole, Lisa and Jesse.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives, Ruth and Carol; a brother and two sisters.
Lawrence was born Nov. 22, 1929, in Oelwein, and proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. Lawrence worked as a welder at FMC for many years and later retired from the Cedar Rapids Street Department.
Lawrence enjoyed camping, trout fishing and spending time with his family and many many friends.
A memorial fund has been established.
