Ford, John 'Jack' Jackson

John “Jack” Jackson Ford, 94, of Marengo, formerly of Blairstown, died Monday, May 17, 2010 at Marengo Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Blairstown, with the Rev. Jena Manchester officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Friends may call from noon until services Saturday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

“Jack” was born Feb. 3, 1916, to Peter T. and Alpha E. (Breading) Ford at Browning, Mo. He was united in marriage to Violet Jacobs and they later divorced. On April 4, 1961, “Jack” was united in marriage to Nellie Chehak at Van Horne.

“Jack” worked on the railroad in Missouri before moving to Iowa. He later was employed by Kraus Manufacturing in Walford for 13 years, retiring in 1979. In his leisure “Jack” enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.

He is survived by his children, John Ford of Douds, Viola (Charles) Turner of Bevier, Mo., Cathy Bowen of Wien, Mo., and Janet Rommann of Marengo. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, “Jack” was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie in 1991; son, Jessy in 2003; his brothers, DeMain and Roy; his sister, Susan; and his ex-wife, Violet.
