Survivors include her daughters, Barbara (Russ) Miller of Omaha, Neb., and Joan Force of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Miller (Carrie) and Monica Colvin (Ryan); and one great-grandchild, Gabriel Vade Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Vade.
Pearl was born March 15, 1918, near New Hartford, Iowa, the daughter of Bert and Blanch (McMullen) Corwin. She graduated from New Hartford High School and moved to Cedar Falls. She was united in marriage to Vade C. Force on Sept. 16, 1941. Pearl worked for Rath Packing Co. doing clerical work. While Vade served his country during World War II, Pearl moved to California and worked at Douglas Aircraft. Following the war, Pearl and Vade returned to Cedar Falls, where they were lifelong residents. Pearl played trumpet with the Charmettes, a girls dance band which toured Iowa.
Pearl was a member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. She was very active in PTA, election board panels, and served as a volunteer probation officer. They also participated in the Foster Care Program. Their home was full of Barb and Joan's friends where music and food was always abundant. Pearl's love of music stayed with her to the end. She faithfully attended concerts as long as she was able. Pearl loved animals, especially cats. Pearl and Vade traveled the country from 1977-1989, making friends wherever they parked the Coachman RV.
At Pearl's request, no flowers, however, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Cedar Falls and the Eastern Iowa Brass Band. Cards may be sent to 1015 Woodland Heights Ct. SE, No. 13, Cedar Rapids, IA, 52403 in care of Joan Force.
